Finding fit is a two-way-street, and co-housing comes in many different flavors; this one may or may not be right for you! Here’s how we’re thinking of bringing new folks in:
- The most important part of living is who you’re living with, so residents always have voice in who joins the community. To that end, new residents join based on consensus invitation by existing members.
- There’s no way to really know if you live well with someone until you live with them. All new folks start with a 6-month exploratory phase for everyone to feel out fit. At the end of this time, residents make a decision—still consensus-based—on whether to invite exploratory folks to stay indefinitely. And the vibe-check goes both ways; this is a good opportunity for you to test out whether everything feels good.
- To that end, we think it's helpful to consider: Are there things I’m excited to get out of these next 6 months, even if I don’t end up making this my forever home? All of us being able to hold this exploratory period lightly—with curiosity and a sense of adventure—is key for finding true fit and having fun along the way. :)
